Short version: BrickID does not collect personal information. The app works without an account. Any usage analytics are anonymous, opt-in only, and cannot be linked back to you.

This Privacy Policy describes how ITmadeSimple ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the BrickID iOS application ("the app"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app works.

Information we do not collect

BrickID does not require an account, login, or any personal information to use. We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact details
  • Your location data
  • Your photos or camera images — images are processed on-device or sent directly to identification APIs and are not stored by us
  • Any information that could personally identify you

Camera and photo library access

BrickID requests access to your device camera and, optionally, your photo library. This access is used solely to capture images of LEGO parts for identification purposes.

  • Images captured through the app are sent to third-party identification APIs (Rebrickable and Brickognize) for processing
  • Images are not stored on our servers
  • You can revoke camera or photo library access at any time in your device Settings

Optional anonymous analytics

BrickID includes an optional, opt-in analytics feature to help us improve the app. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled in Settings.

If you choose to enable it, the app may send:

  • Anonymous scan metadata (e.g. whether a scan was successful, colour confidence score)
  • A randomly generated device identifier — this is not linked to your Apple ID or any personal information
  • No images, part results, or personally identifiable information are ever included

This data is sent to Supabase (our backend provider) and is used only to understand how the app performs. You can disable this at any time in BrickID Settings under "Improve BrickID".

Third-party services

BrickID uses the following third-party services for core functionality:

  • Brickognize — LEGO part identification API. Images are sent to Brickognize for processing. See their privacy policy at brickognize.com
  • Rebrickable — Part database and metadata. See their privacy policy at rebrickable.com/privacy
  • Supabase — Backend analytics (opt-in only). See their privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy

Data storage

Scan history and colour correction preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device unless you choose to export it.

You can delete all locally stored data by uninstalling the app.

Children's privacy

BrickID does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or any personal data from any user, regardless of age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
