Frequently asked questions
How many free scans do I get?
BrickID includes 25 free lifetime scans with no account required. After that, a one-time unlock ($9.99) gives you unlimited scans forever.
Is there a subscription?
No. BrickID uses a one-time purchase model. Pay once and the app is yours — no monthly fees, no renewal, no expiry.
What parts can BrickID identify?
BrickID identifies LEGO parts (bricks, plates, tiles, technic pieces, etc.) using the Rebrickable and Brickognize databases — covering 76,000+ parts. Minifigure identification is not included in v1.
How accurate is the identification?
Accuracy depends on lighting and photo quality. For best results, place the part on a flat, neutral-coloured surface with good lighting. Dark-coloured parts (black, dark grey, dark brown) can be harder to distinguish — a second scan from a different angle usually helps.
Does BrickID work offline?
An internet connection is required for part identification, as BrickID queries the Rebrickable and Brickognize APIs. Your scan history and colour corrections are stored locally on your device and are always available offline.
How do I export my scans?
With the Unlimited unlock, you can export your scan history as a CSV file or BrickLink-compatible XML from the History screen. Tap the export icon in the top-right corner of the History tab.
What data does BrickID collect?
BrickID doesn't collect personal data. No account is required. Optional anonymous analytics are disabled by default and can be toggled in Settings. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open BrickID, go to Settings and tap Restore Purchase. Your unlock is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed in with the same account at no extra charge.
I found a bug — how do I report it?
Please email support@itmadesimple.com with a description of what happened and your iOS version. Screenshots or screen recordings are always helpful.
Can I request a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund via reportaproblem.apple.com.
